Tears in Rain is an immersive installation reflecting on memory, family archives and the inevitable disappearance of personal experiences over time.

Through analogue home videos and generative visual processing, the work transforms intimate recollections into a shared space where individual memories become collective emotions.

Process

Personal VHS recordings were digitised and processed in TouchDesigner through a custom visual system simulating rain falling across a window. The projection was carefully mapped onto hanging fabrics, combining moving images, physical materials and audience participation to create a contemplative installation centred on memory and impermanence.

Projected onto suspended white fabrics, the installation creates an intimate environment inspired by domestic spaces and everyday rituals. Visitors observe fragments of family VHS recordings gradually dissolving beneath simulated rainfall while contributing their own memories to a growing archive, becoming part of the work itself through personal reflection.
